Rinse the area with warm salt water and gently floss to remove anything stuck between your teeth. You can take an over-the-counter pain reliever but make sure not to apply it directly to your teeth or gums. If the area is swollen, apply a cold compress. Contact our office to schedule an appointment to resolve the cause of the toothache.
Chipped or Cracked Tooth
Rinse with warm water. If there is swelling, apply a cold compress to your face, near the damaged area. Call us right away office to schedule an appointment to evaluate and fix the broken tooth.
Knocked Out Tooth
If the tooth is whole, carefully pick it up by the crown (the biting part of the tooth) and rinse it gently in water. Take care not to brush the tooth, scrub the tooth, or handle it unnecessarily. Holding the tooth by the crown, try to gently reinsert it into the socket. If this does not work then hold the tooth under your tongue, place it between your cheek and gums, or transport it in a cup of milk. Visit us ASAP! Time is of the essence!
