How Can I Stay Calm at the Dentist?

added on: April 5, 2018

A dark-haired man with a beard wears a hat against a cloudy sky and breathes deeply to help him relax

We understand that our patients lead full, busy lives and likely could list many other things they would rather do than visit the dentist. We also understand that some people may even feel nervous about visiting the dentist. We don’t want anyone to feel anxious about coming to see us. Our dental office is nothing to fear!

At Caring Smiles, we offer convenient, flexible scheduling and office amenities to help you feel at home. Dr. Allen, Dr. Lindsey, and the rest of our talented team work with a gentle touch, to make you feel relaxed in our care. We also want to share 3 simple tips that can help you and your family stay calm at the dentist!

1. Let Us Know

Dental anxiety can affect people of all ages. Our friendly team will never judge if you let us know that you’re feeling tense about your visit. Instead, we’d prefer that you let us know so that we can take extra care in making sure you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.

2. Take Slow, Deep Breaths

If the thought of visiting the dentist makes your heart race, try practicing some deep breathing exercises before and during your next appointment. Breathing slowly and deeply can help you deal with stress, both in the dentist’s chair and in everyday life.

3. Enjoy Our Soothing Environment

We know that soothing music and sounds can help people relax, and we do our best to make our office environment as comfortable as possible. We want the sights, sounds, and smells of our office to help our patients feel at ease.

If you are one of the many people who experience dental anxiety, remember you’re not alone! Our entire team is dedicated to making our office a welcoming place where you can rest easy knowing you’re in good hands as we care for your oral health.

Your comfort is our priority. If you have any questions or concerns about visiting the dentist, please call our team!
